Clinical Hypnotherapy

Effective and relaxed therapy to help you live a happier, more relaxed and pain-free life. Full control. No bullsh*t.

What is Clinical Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis puts you into an extremely relaxed state where you’re more open to suggestion and can more easily adjust your habits and subconscious thought patterns. Clinical hypnotherapy takes this to a whole other level, using advanced hypnosis techniques alongside other complementary therapies to work on various physical and psychological issues that could be holding you back.

There’s no mind control here - I’m not aiming for world domination by making you act like a chicken. You’ll be in full control during the whole experience, able to see and understand everything going on around you. You can even bring yourself out of a hypnotic state if you want to.

Clinical Hypnotherapy simply helps you sink into a relaxed state of mind so you can shut down life’s noise and really focus on yourself.

What Does Clinical Hypnotherapy Help With?

In a way, it’s easier to recognise how clinical hypnotherapy can help with mental issues such as low self-esteem, poor sleep and anxiety. But hypnosis can also help with physical problems such as muscle pain, skin conditions and persistent headaches. That’s because the brain and the body are like two peas in a pod - issues in one can cause issues in the other.

Clinical hypnotherapy can be used to address all kinds of problems, including:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Addictions such as smoking, alcohol, and binge eating
  • Fears and phobias
  • Lack of confidence
  • Chronic pain
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sleep disorders such as insomnia
  • PTSD

What Can I Expect from Hypnotherapy Sessions?

First off, we’ll have a chat so I can find out what results you hope to achieve from hypnotherapy. That could be an increase in confidence, reduction of pain, or help quietening intrusive thoughts. We’ll chat about how these things are affecting your life, and how hypnotherapy might help. You’ll also have the chance to ask any questions - you need to feel comfortable working with me, so let’s use this time to erase any doubts or nerves you might have.

If you’re happy to go ahead after that, we’ll make a bespoke plan. This could include just hypnotherapy, or I might also recommend additional therapies if I think they’ll be beneficial.

Then we get to work. At a minimum, you’ll usually have 3-5 hypnotherapy sessions, but this can be expanded if necessary. At each session I’ll check in before, during and after the hypnosis to make sure you’re always comfortable and feeling safe. I never want you to feel like you’re being forced into anything - that’s not my jam.

But Isn’t Hypnosis Bullsh*t?

There’s a lot of stuff out there (I’m looking at you, Hollywood) that might make you sceptical about hypnotherapy - and that’s good. This is your wellbeing we’re talking about, so you should do your research to make sure it’s right for you. If you’re still not sure whether hypnotherapy is “real”, here’s some extra info for you.

First off, hypnosis is not some magic cure-all. Like all other legitimate therapies, it takes time and it takes commitment from you. There is an element of open-mindedness required, so if you’re super sceptical, the truth is that hypnotherapy probably won’t work for you.

So why is that?

Well, hypnosis is not the same as in movies where a practitioner magically knocks you into an unconscious state where you’re susceptible to their every whim. In real-life hypnotherapy you’re always conscious, just more relaxed. In order for it to work, you need to allow yourself to slip into that more relaxed space, and that’s simply easier if you’re open to the process. Saying that, up to 85% of people will respond to hypnotherapy.

If you love your scientific details and your journals, there’s plenty of further reading you can do. Like a 20-year study by Frontiers in Psychology that found positive outcomes in over 99% of hypnotherapy cases. Or a study that found how hypnosis consistently produces significant decreases in pain compared to other forms of therapy.

But, ultimately, the best way to find out if it works is to give it a go for yourself with an experienced and conscientious practitioner. Hi, that’s me!
